Baby, It's Cold Outside

Well here it finally is - my listing of all the versions (I think) that I've collected of the perennial
favorite 'Baby, It's Cold Outside'

I've sorted the songs by the first name of the woman (if known).

If you can add to the list please post a comment or send me an email.

Here's a link to Wikipedia's description of the song: Baby,It's Cold Outside

Please see the new listing above.

Christmas Carols - Father Sydney MacEwan

Here's my first sharity for all you collectors of the odd and unusual.

Picked this up at an antique mall - couldn't resist after seeing the cover.

The quality isn't the best (especially side 2), cleaned it up best I could without ruining the audio.

The record was produced in 1956.

Here's the description from the back of the cover:

Ever since he won a singing competition during a holiday in Argyll when he was ten, Father Sydney MacEwan has been enchanting the ears of audiences all over the world with his music. He was born in Glasgow in 1909, graduated from St. Aloysius Jesuit College, Glasgow, in 1927, and then won a scholarship that took him to the Royal Academy of Music in London. In his subsequent career of personal appearances and recordings he met with immediate and record-breaking success until he made his decision to retire to the priesthood. He was ordained in St. Andrew's Cathedral, Glasgow, in 1944.
But the world was not to be completely denied his talents and as a priest he received permission to continue making records and limited personal appearances.
What more fitting repertory could there be for this man than the twelve carols he presents on this record? And who could present them better than the interpreter of whom Sir Compton MacKenzie wrote: "Every song is sung with the grace of a natural artist who has had the patience and the humility to learn his job."

Hope you all enjoy -

Welcome

This is a new adventure for me. After finding there is an incredible community of people sharing old vinyl and out of print Christmas music, I've decided to join them.

I've been collecting Christmas music for quite a few years and with the help of my friends (big thanks to Danko) and family have a collection of over 12,000 songs. It ranges from traditional hits to very obscure songs. I collect everyone from ABBA to Zamfir.

My first project (with your help) is to create a database of all the different versions of my favorite Holiday hit - "Baby, It's Cold Outside"

I'll be posting a list of my versions in the next day or so, and hope others will be able to add to the list.

In the mean time here's a copy to get you in the mood. It's by Mae West and Rock Hudson during the 1958 Oscar ceremony.
